How to Get Rid of Dyed Hair
Dyeing your hair can be tragic, especially if it is not done properly. You may want to lock yourself in your room the whole day or consider shaving your crown for a fresh start. You need not worry though. With enough patience and knowledge, you can redeem youself and get rid of your badly dyed hair.
Before trying to get rid of your hair dye, you should know first if you applied a temporary or permanent hair dye.
Temporary Hair Dye – If you dyed your hair with a termporary product, there is nothing to panic about. You can just wait until your 24th wash (on the average) for your hair to return to its original color again. Don’t expect all temporary hair dyes to be washed off your hair after 24 days though. The time your hair needs to get back to its original color varies from product to product. If you want to know how many days your hair needs, then bring your hair dye to a chemist.
Permanent Hair Dye – If you used a dark permanent dye, you have no choice but to bleach your hair. Don’t worry about going blonde if you think it doesn’t suit you because that is only good for the first coating. You need to bleach your hair first because this will make the second coating more visible and prominent. If you used a lighter color, you should color your hair with a dark hair dye.
Of course, you can wait until the permenent hair dye grows out. All you need to do is to cut it. If you want to speed it up, cut your hair short.
The package of your hair dye usually has a helpline number printed at the bottle or box. Don’t hesitate to call the number for inquiries. You can also check the back of the packet because you may find hair dye removal instructions there.
Once you have solved your problem, it is best not to dye your hair for quite some time because hair colour contains very powerful chemicals. Your hair and scalp may be damaged if you dye it twice within a short period of time. Give your hair ample amount of time to recover before risking on hair coloring once again.
Blasting Black
Removing hair colors maybe difficult but getting rid of black hair dye can be doubly hard. You need more attention when removing black hair dye because if not, you will definitely sacrifice the health of your hair. Consider removing black hair dye as a special case. If it is a temporary black hair dye, expect the removal process to be tricky. If it is permanent, then expect it to be even worse (Tips on how to get rid of bad hair color).
Growing It Out -- Let your hair grow until the dyed area grows out. You may have to wait for months before you can get rid of your black hair dye though but it is better to be safe than sorry.
Bleaching Your Crown -- If you are attending an important event or if you are on a rush, you can bleach your hair with chemicals. A word of caution though --- bleaching can strain your hair because it can make it thin and stretchy. After bleaching, your hair will become fragile because the chemicals will take away the outer layer of your hair. The outer layer must be stripped off to get rid of the black dye.
If you are bleaching your hair to remove the hair dye evenly, you should use a toner after bleaching to reduce the orange tone effect on your hair. The toner will also act as a conditioner that prevents future damage to your hair. Remember, it is best to go to a salon for bleaching. Doing it by yourself can pose more serious dangers.
Shampoo Plus Mild Bleaching -- You can also remove black hair dye by shampooing but you will still need to bleach your hair. Bleaching, in this process, must be done very lightly and mildly. You will have to mix a shampoo or conditioner and bleaching powder while preparing it with proportional parts of water. You should wait until the mixture becomes creamy after mixing it mildly.
The role of the mixture here is to slow down the bleaching process that damages your hair. Again, it is best not to do this at home. A professional hairdresser can do the job for you. If you are equipped with enough knowledge about hair dyes and chemicals, only then can you do the process by yourself.
If the chemicals stay on your hair for only a short period of time, then the whole hair dye removal process will become easier. Typically, though, this process will take you much longer because you need to visit the salon several times to complete successfully complete your mission of a dye-free hair.
Now that you know better, let this be a lesson learned. Don’t get too excited in trying out new chemicals on your hair, or you will end up less than happy about it
