While AVG and ad aware are great, they take a very long time in scanning the hard drive, as does spybot s&d. I use a program called ccleaner that is superfast, and as far as I can tell is just as effective as the previously mentioned programs. I love AVGs link scanner, it forewarns you of websites that are infected so you can stay clear of them. I also use firefox and use very very few add-ons, my favorite is the ABP add-on.
