1. Hickeys

a huge hickey in the neckOk, so we all know that hickeys are the result of an overzealous set of lips suction-cupping themselves to an area of skin and sucking until surface blood vessels break, right? Right, so I won't elaborate on the subject any more here.

2. How to Get Rid of a Hickey

The question remains, once all of that blood is trapped right beneath the skin's surface, how do you get rid of it?

Tips for Hiding and Removing Hickeys

    ice
  • If you catch the hickey soon enough, your can minimize the mark by immediately applying ice.
  • Surface stimulation will help disperse the blood. Gently rub and massage the area.
  • Using a comb or a hairbrush to massage the area works better than fingers and hands.
  • Using any tubular object with a domed end, apply steady pressure over the hickey and twist. It will hurt, but it will help. Lipstick caps, pen caps, and blistex caps work. The goal is to work the blood deeper into the skin.
  • Make the hickey worse - if you use a curling iron, have your 'friend' reshape the hickey to match the pattern that it would make if you had burned yourself accidentally. This can work with any likely burn or bruise scenario. turtleneck sweaterDo not burn yourself! Reshape the hickey with more suction.
  • Utilize turtleneck sweaters, scarves, or makeup to cover it up.
  • Rub vitamin K into the area.
  • Apply a warm, moist, used tea-bag as a hot compress. Repeatedly re-wet and re-warm it as needed until the hickey disappears.

The chap stick cap twisting thing work. i have been having my hicky for almost three days and i combed it at first and iced it. but it was still there. i just twisted my hicky and its almost gone! im icing it right now…im amazed :-)

  3. I have the WORST hickey I have ever gotten. The left and right side of my neck are ugly shades of red, purple, and blue. I even got one in the middle! It’s so bad, even my best make up attempts only hide some of it. But I will be trying the tea bag trick and the chapstick cap thingy. THANK YOU!

I tried the cold spoon and the ice technique first and I didn’t see much of any change. So, I tried the twisting technique which definately helped lighten them. Of course, there was a lot of redness from it so I used the ice again to make it go down, and it did. Hopefully they’ll be gone before the end of today!!!

That whole thing with the Chapstick tube definately works and I will use it in the future! Hickeys are gross but hey we all get one at some point in our lives.

  6. The twisting tip works the best, it made mine go within 10 minutes! :)

Not bad advice, I’ll test these out… but I have one of the /worst/ hickeys ever! It’s probably going to scar, so I’ll let you know how it goes. I put some ice on it as soon as my boyfriend left, so it’s probably not as bad as it could have been. Wouldn’t the eraser hurt, though? Totally makes me think of that juvenile game where you erase your skin… o.e

  9. The one with the [encil with an eraser is perfect, workd within 5 mins!! Too ba i didnt think of this before my parents saw mine

I took the tea bag tip but changed it a little bit, some of you know the bean bags that you can get that you can heat up in the microwave that you then can apply to the body to heat you up…I took one of those put it in the microwave for 4 minutes… then apply to the area for as long as need (you can re-heat as many times as needed as well). For me it cleared up really fast! ;)
