Penile Yeast Infections

yeast infected bodyAlso known as candidiasis, a yeast infection is a fungal infection that can attack any part of the body that is routinely moist (Learn how to get rid of a fungal infection). Yeast organisms are a natural part of every human's physiological ecosystem, and when something knocks this ecosystem out of balance and allows yeast to grow out of control, you end up with a yeast infection. While vaginal yeast infections are much more common than penile yeast infections, both conditions can be very painful and embarrassing. (For vaginal yeast infection treatments, read how to get rid of yeast infection)

Male Yeast Infection Causes

Sex: As with most fungal infections, this one can be spread by direct physical contact. If you or your partner has a yeast infection, it's best to remain celibate until it has been cured or you can end up passing it back and forth. It can also be spread to your mouth (aka thrush) so just be very careful.
Nonoxynol-9: This is a common spermicide found in many contraceptive products. There is evidence that while this spermicide does kill sperm, it rapidly increases the growth of naturally occurring yeasts.
Diabetes: Yeast feeds on sugars; the elevated blood-sugar levels associated with diabetes are candy to yeast.
Antibiotics: As I mentioned earlier, yeasts are a naturally occurring part of the human physiological landscape. They are kept from growing out of control by other organisms that are also naturally occurring. Prolonged use of antibiotics can kill off all of the yeast-balancing organisms leaving lots of room for the yeast to grow.

Male Yeast Infection Symptoms

The symptoms of a male yeast infection can appear very similar to those of genital herpes. If you exhibit any of these symptoms, swallow your pride and go to your doctor. If you do have a yeast infection, the fastest method of getting rid of it is with oral antibiotics, which will require a prescription anyway. The most common set of symptoms includes:
    symptoms of yeast infected
  • Itchiness, redness, and/or soreness localized at the head of the penis
  • Tiny, reddish bumps at the head of the penis
  • White, clumpy discharge

Treating Male Yeast Infections

nizoral Since most yeast infections are the result of an imbalance in the body's physiology that allows the naturally occurring yeast to grow out of control, the most effective remedies are oral antibiotics which correct the imbalance from the inside-out. The most commonly prescribed medications are Diflucan (fluconazole) and Nizoral (ketaconazole) which attack the yeast directly. Topical treatments include the application of over the counter vaginal yeast infection creams like Monistat-7 directly to the penis. Due to the internal nature of male yeast infections, these treatments aren't always effective, so if you don't see improvement within the first few days, go see your doctor.

For males, it is very important to get treatment and to make sure with their doctor they actually have a yeast infection and not something more serious..and to keep from passing it back to their female partner creating a cycle.

Biggest tip i can give to any male suffering from a yeast rash on your bum, perenium or groin is to go for a swim in the sea for 15 minutes 3 times in a day at least twice a week for just the one week(doctors advice). I did this and my very angry yeast rash went away, it all went scaly looking and red on my scrotum and then went back to normal, it will clear up and will take up to a few weeks after this remedy for the full result. It will be sore for a bit but it will instantly kill all the surface yeast and allow the body to start the healing process.

DO NOT PUT BACK ON THE CLOTHES YOU TOOK OFF BEFORE YOU WENT SWIMMING!!!
    bring another underpants etc!!!!

if you have a yeast infection at the tip of the penis i believe the sea side trick may have no effect as stated this is for a surface rash.

My wife and I are both diabetics. About 2 years ago she had a YI and passed it on to me. At first I noticed a small reddening under my foreskin. It seemed to come and go on it’s own. Now it is a constant and my foreskin has become dry and has tiny hairline splitting of the skin. I have had several prescriptions, none of which have helped. This site has given me some ideas (and Hope!). I was particularily glad to learn that the foreskin cuts are not uncommon. I plan on starting a new treatment regimen with suggestions from this site. Thanks to all who have shared their information!

My first male yeast infection was at age 32. i cure it with just soap and water. My second yeast infection was at age 36. I cure it with a pill called Diflucan and a tropical cream called Clotrimazole. It was gone in two days. Make sure when you take Diflucan that you don’t drink alcohol if you do it will only kill the drug. now make sure you shower daily keep it dry guys a yeast can not survived in open air. when you take a shower tap your penis with a towel and air it out.The drug Diflucan works in your blood stream exposing your yeast. You will notice your penis bursting your so called rad spots and they will start to leak out.Once they are expose use the cream Clotrimazole to kill the yeast. It work for me.I hope this help if you have any questions just ask. Remember this is an infection not a diseases.

Let me give a little rundown of what I’ve dealt with. Some of what I’ve done may help you guys out a bit.

I got a yeast infection several years ago from a girl I’d slept with. Every since then, I’ve never been able to shake it entirely. It comes and goes and Ive tried various things to take care of it when it does pop up. I did not have the typical yeast infection on the penis. Mine’s predominantly on the scrotum. Extremely itchy, with cracks and dry skin and of course you itch and scratch and the skin comes off and makes you raw. It’s a nightmare. Here’s what I’ve done

    1) guys, yeast thrives in a moist environment. You -must- dry off completely after a shower. I dry off with a towel for most of my body but I use a blow dryer to dry off my entire genital region and around my ass so there is no notable moisture on my skin.

    2) Use a prescription powder (Nystatin) after each shower. Nystatin should be reapplied at least two or three times a day depending on how much you sweat or how moist you are. I highly recommend a shower both in the morningh and in the early evening with proper drying and application of Nystatin. Ask your doctor for the 60gram bottle. It’s a large enough bottle that it will allow you to reapply it without worrying about running out. Don’t let your the doctor prescribe the tiny bottles. they don’t give you enough powder to coat everything enough with multiple applications. Ask for a refill on the 60gram bottle as well. A good physician won’t argue with you about it. There’s no harm in making sure you’re covered for the duration.

    3) Diflucan did not work for me at all.

    4) Do not scrub or wash the infected region with any kind of loofa sponge or scrubber that you leave in the shower and re-use. The yeast will linger and hang out on it and you will give it right back to yourself. Wash with a washcloth and immediately wash it. The same thing goes for bars of soap. Keep them away from that region.

My physician told me to avoid the Nystatin creams, or any cream for that matter. Yeast thrives in a warm moist environment. Don’t give yeast a moist environment by applying creams. Just use nystatin powder. Ive treid the nystatin creams and creams did not help at all. They actually made me itch worse after being on for about 2 to 3 hours.

Baby powder or any other kind of talc powder did not work and only made it worse.

Yeast can generally be controlled quickly using nystatin powder and over-the-top hygeine control. It’s especially important to take multiple showers per day and dry off completely before applying the powder if you’re a heavier person. Heavier people develop moisture faster and don’t stay dry in the genital region. I’m a heavier guy and have to pay contstant attention to the moisture levels down below, often taking time out of my day for a quick shower, scrub, dry and powder application.

Good luck. Don’t avoid seeing a doctor just because you’re shy or embarassed. Just go, get the Nystatin powder, and change your habits. You should have it under control in just a few days. if you’re diligent.

Lol thats the best post ever, im very reluctant to dip my manly parts into some yogurt but yeah gravy and salad dressing may just do the trick! ;)

Let me just say, I never thought I’d see the day I’d be dipping and holding my unit in a glass of vinegar/water mixture, followed by immersion in a glass of plain yogurt.

If I could just find some home remedy to cure the cracking foreskin, I’d be set. Maybe a dunk in a cup of salad dressing or gravy is in order…
