Penile Yeast Infections

yeast infected bodyvaginal yeast infections are much more common than penile yeast infections, both conditions can be very painful and embarrassing.

Male Yeast Infection Causes

Sex: As with most fugal infections, this one can be spread by direct physical contact. If you or your partner has a yeast infection, it’s best to remain celibate until it has been cured or you can end up passing it back and forth. It can also be spread to your mouth (aka thrush) so just be very careful.
Nonoxynol-9: This is a common spermicide found in many contraceptive products. There is evidence that while this spermicide does kill sperm, it rapidly increases the growth of naturally occurring yeasts.

How to Get Rid of Male Yeast Infections

Diabetes: Yeast feeds on sugars; the elevated blood-sugar levels associated with diabetes are candy to yeast.

Antibiotics: As I mentioned earlier, yeasts are a naturally occurring part of the human physiological landscape. They are kept from growing out of control by other organisms that are also naturally occurring. Prolonged use of antibiotics can kill off all of the yeast-balancing organisms leaving lots of room for the yeast to grow.

Male Yeast Infection Symptoms

The symptoms of a male yeast infection can appear very similar to those of genital herpes. If you exhibit any of these symptoms, swallow your pride and go to your doctor. If you do have a yeast infection, the fastest method of getting rid of it is with oral antibiotics, which will require a prescription anyway.

The most common set of symptoms includes:

    symptoms of yeast infected

  • Itchiness, redness, and/or soreness localized at the head of the penis
  • Tiny, reddish bumps at the head of the penis
  • White, clumpy discharge

Treating Male Yeast Infections

nizoral Since most yeast infections are the result of an imbalance in the body’s physiology that allows the naturally occurring yeast to grow out of control, the most effective remedies are oral antibiotics which correct the imbalance from the inside-out. The most commonly prescribed medications are Diflucan (fluconazole) and Nizoral (ketaconazole) which attack the yeast directly.

Topical treatments include the application of over the counter vaginal yeast infection creams like Monistat-7 directly to the penis. Due to the internal nature of male yeast infections, these treatments aren’t always effective, so if you don’t see improvement within the first few days, go see your doctor.

does male yeast infection only have to be on the penis? or can it also be on the ball sack as well?

  3. witchdoctor Says:

You could try plain yogurt. The active cultures are natural probiotics and kill the excess yeast. Should work for men and women, works for athelete’s foot, too. Eating it regularly is a good idea but external application a couple of times a day until clear is what I’m refering to. Might want to let it get warm first.

    Hey guys,

I have a PhD in Food Nutrition, I have a office in my town and in alot of cases local doctors refer patients to me that seek homeopathic cures. I my self had a yeast infection years ago, I went to my local doctor and he prescribed numerous medications that only got rid of the infection for a short time. After school I learned the ins and out the human body. I have recommended this treatment to all my patients and my self and there has been a 98% success rate (excluding rare cases.)If you have a active penile yeast infection its simple, eat natural plain yogurt. Yes believe it or not, a yeast infection in men is caused by a lack of bacterium in the body that combats active yeast cells. Thus a over populous of yeast cells the show in the mouth (oral thrush), on the dermis (skin) and, on the penis (penile yeast infection.) If you have a infection start by consuming at least 80oz of natural yogurt weekly (eating more the better) after about 3 weeks or less you will see a regression of the infection. This is the important part, after the infection is gone continue eating 64oz of yogurt per week (this can be any flavor you prefer.) This keeps the bacteria levels in check, as well yogurt helps to keep all aspects of your body in health.

  7. RD Says:

My doc prescribed 500mg of oral Flagyl (Metronidazole) twice a day for 7 days. Flagyl treats trichomoniasis in both men and women, but I didn’t have the symptoms of trichomoniasis - just the sympotons for a male yeast/fungal infection (candidiasis). For more info on Flagyl see: http://www.flagyl.org/
    Good Luck!

How much Flagyl where you taking a day??

  9. RD Says:

I got a male yeast infection (transmitted from my wife). I tried homeopathic remedies - didn’t work. I used store-brand Monostat and it seemed to go away. A few months later it came back. I researched it more and then went to an MD. She looked at it and prescribed 3 single-doses (one every other day) of Fluconazole. Didn’t work. Called back and was prescribed Flagyl- it worked. While researching I found some pictures (I wanted to see if what I had was what others had). The pics show some differences, but one was close enough to what mine looked like: http://www.healthac.org/images/yeast.html
PS. don’t waste your time on the homeopathic remedies - they do not work for the majority of men. Good luck!
