How to Get Rid of Undereye Circles
At some point in your life, especially at a time when you are getting old, you are hung-over, you lack sleep or you are stressed, you will need to deal with dark undereye circles. The good news is, you can get rid of dark undereye circles with simple ways which you can do at home. You don’t need to undergo laser treatments or surgery. You just need to visit the grocery store and spare some of your time to relax.
Before learning the different ways to get rid of undereye circles, it will help to know the reasons why you are having them in the first place. The most common cause of dark undereye circles is heredity. It is in the genes most of the times. If this is the case, then you can’t avoid getting undereye circles. You can wear a good concealer to hide the dark areas under your eyes.
Other causes of undereye circles include poor diet, lack of sleep, stress, dehydration or a combination of any of these. To know what treatment to employ, you need know the root of the problem. Take a look at your lifestyle and see how it is affecting your eating habits or sleeping habits to name a few. You can consult your physician to make better judgments regarding this matter.
Prevention is Better Than Cure
You’ve heard it before: prevention is better than cure. You can do two things: reduce the darkness or the appearance, or prevent having it develop under your eyes. Dehydration is one of the causes of dark undereye circles, so be sure to drink enough water everyday. You need to drink at eight glasses of water a day, each glass containing eight ounces of water. Stay away from anything that dehydrates you, like sugar, caffeine and alcohol.
If you are exercising regularly and you are following a diet but dark circles form under your eyes, it only means one thing: you are not getting the right nutrients you should be getting. As your dietitian to check your diet. You should eat foods that provide you with your daily needs. Avoid activities that cause you a great deal of stress and get enough hours of sleep.
All these prevention tips are easier said than done. With your busy schedule, an extra 10-minute sleep is hard to get, let alone an extra hour. You also find it hard to give up caffeine because coffee is part of your daily breakfast. Since you may find following these prevention tips difficult, try these natural remedies to fight dark undereye circles.
What You Can Do At HomeYou have three choices when it comes to home remedies: you can stimulate, cool or moisturize your skin. If you stimulate your skin, your skin looks more alive because stimulating brings blood flow under your dark undereyes. If you cool your skin, stress around your eyes is relieved. If you moisturize it, you get away with dark undereye circles because you are hydrating your skin.
You can do even more than these three. Here are some natural remedies which you can try at home. Since each individual has a different skin type, feel free to try another one if a remedy does not work for you.
- You need to slice an unwaxed cucumber and cool in in a refrigerator. Use the sliced unwaxed cucumber to relax your eyes. Let them stay on your eyes for 10 minutes.
- Massage your eyes, especially the skin under and around them, using almond oil. You can also use peanut oil if you don’t have almond oil.
- For five minutes, place two chamomile tea (or any tea bag) in cold water. After this, place the tea bags on your eyes and let it stay there for five minutes.
- If you have an unwaxed cucumber, grate it. If you have a red potato, scrub it. You can use any of these two on your eyes for 10 minutes. Make sure that you place the gratings on gauze pads to avoid being messy.
- A mixture of tomato juice and lemon juice can also be used to get rid of undereye circles. Let sit for only five minutes and then rinse thoroughly. Be reminded that the mixture should not get into your eyes.

- For 20 minutes, you can apply crushed mint leaves on the darkened area of your eyes.
- For 10 minutes, apply rose water to your undereye but before doing so, dip cotton balls into the said substance first.
- Foods rich in iron and vitamins C and E are effective in removing dark undereye circles.
If dark circles run in your family, prevention and remedies seem to give you hope. Then again, these can only do so much. If you can’t find natural remedies effective, then do something which your money can provide. A visit to your beauty shop won’t hurt. Choose cosmetics that can hide your dark undereyes while you go to work everyday.
You can see a lot of beauty products on the market today, and confusion can sometimes be inevitable. The number one recommended beauty product is a concealer. A green tone or white concealer is highly suggested because it contradicts the color under your eyes. Then again, feel free to play with different shades as different skin tones need different shades. Sample cosmetics are present in every department store, but make sure that the products you are going to try are all clean.
A concealer with chamomile is a must-have because chamomile is a natural remedy for your skin. With this type of concealer, you are not just hiding your dark undereye circles. You are also curing your skin.
Before using any cosmetic, apply a moisturizer under your eyes first. Make sure that your moisturizer has vitamin E because cosmetics can damage and dry your skin.
Who says that yours is a hopeless case? See, even if you acquired your dark under eye circles from your parents, you can still do something about it. You can now say goodbye to looking tired and stressed. Just make sure that you are always determined to exert effort in making yourself even more beautiful than how you already are. Beauty requires discipline, so if you are serious about getting rid of anything, you know what you need.

All eye creams seem to come in tiny .5oz / 15ml containers - which is a waste of money…i like the Made from Earth Olive Night creme because its a large 2 ounce container and has worked WONDERS under my eyes and wrinkles on the sides of my face.
I really enjoy the Olive Night creme - I use it as an under eye cream as recommended by their website. My routine has been putting some of the cream along my lower lid and then gently rubing under my eyes before i go to bed at night. The cream stays put, and doesn’t get into my eyes. It also doesn’t have any fumes or aromas to make my eyes water since it is organic and chemical free. I’m the one whose eyes will tear if our cat wanders next to me and rubs my shoulder, so my eyes are generally rather sensitive.
I use this each morning and evening. I really can tell the difference, that my eyes look less tired, that the skin looks more healthy. And really, it makes sense. All skin needs moisture to stay healthy. That skin beneath and around your eyes is extremely thin, so if any skin on your body is going to show dehydration first, it would be your eyes. People look at your eyes all the time when they talk to you, so they notice that pretty quickly.
The downside of course is that eye cream is rather pricey - but again, for the above reasons, I don’t think it’s as bad as it might seem at first. You use tiny amounts. The cream is specially formulated to be safe for use near your eyes, and to be light enough to absorb into that delicate skin. You really DO need to take care of that skin area in a special way, since the skin is so delicate. And it’s well worth it to do that, since people who talk to you are generally looking at your face and your eyes when they do so.
I tend to be frugal, but this is one of the areas where I think taking good care of yourself is worth it in the long run. I bought from the website because I believe they only have stores in London and New York - highly recommended for healthy women looking for an under eye with proven results!
I’m always on the hunt for a good eye cream. I recently chanced upon a very good one from Isabella Pelle - called Extreme Eye Rescue. I’ve always suffered from crepe-y looking skin around my eyes and undereye circles. This stuff worked great on both fronts. My dark undereye circles have diminished significantly and the skin around my eyes looks much younger. To boot, its fairly inexpensive and the company offers free shipping on all orders. Check it out
I like green foundation a lot. I use the NYC brand - you can even get a kit with all the different color concealers (yellow, green, etc.) to use on the different parts of your face. You can try them out and see what works best for you.
