You mentioned that we humans cannot fully control yawning spells. I've always been an emotional person ever since I was a child. Certain tones and melodies have caused me to flush with a flurry of emotion for as long as I can remember and I've always abhorred it. For this past year I've been doing a big job of suppressing these emotions and in doing so I learned how to suppress my yawns. When I feel a yawn beginning to fester I catch it by perking my ears up(as happens when we yawn) and wait it out. Nobody is able to tell I'm suppressing a yawn. You could be staring me right in the face and you wouldn't know it. What happens when I do this is my breathing changes slightly and my ears contract and relax in a similar fashion that a fish's gills flex when it's out of water and is gasping for water. What strikes me as odd about me doing this (I do this often, maybe every few minutes) is that others around me still yawn or their breathing changes or they burp or sigh. It's odd I really don't know what to make of it.

Question, I yawned very big, and for the past 6 hours my jaw/throat has been hurting quite a bit.. I know its not dislocated because I can fully open and close my mouth fully, but it still feels very sore. Normally if this happens, after a huge yawn, the pain subsides after a few minutes to max 15 minutes, this time its been persisting for over 6 hours (3 of which I took an nap hoping the problem would be resolved when I woke up...)

Please help..
