How to Build a Coffin
How to Build a Coffin
Just in case you wanted to build a coffin, I decided to write an article about it. You could be a crazy ax murderer and want to hide bodies or maybe you think it would be a great table for your living room.
Whatever the reason is, it could be fun when Halloween comes around. First, you need certain materials and tools to get started.
Tools needed...
- Screws
- Screwdriver
- Saw if you are using plywood
- Wood Glue
- L-Brackets
- Hinges
Materials needed...
- Hinges
- Paint
- Duct Tape
- Cardboard or 1/4 in. Plywood
Here are your steps on how to build a coffin...
The traditional coffin is 7 feet long by 3 feet wide. If you are looking for a different size, then make sure you measure the space first - or if you plan on putting a person inside, measure them (woohahahaha).
First get your cardboard or plywood and cut out the length and size you want. If you are going with 7x3 feet, then you should end up with a base of that size. The sides should be 7 feet long and 3 feet high. Attach sides of the coffin to the base. If you use cardboard then use the duct tape to attach the sides, for plywood use l-brackets on the inside. Wood screws and glue would suffice as well. If you want to save the wood for later or build something else down the road, then use the brackets. Then you can take everything apart easily.
Drill the l-bracket into the base and screw them into the sides. For each corner you can add the bracket to make the walls more secure. A lid can simply fit on top of the coffin, just decide which side it opens up on. Regular cabinet hinges will work find for plywood, but for cardboard you can just use the duct tape. The hinges should have about 3 feet of space between them.
When you are done building your coffin, you will then need to paint it. You can go traditional black or maybe get a little crazy with some graffiti. Whatever you plan on doing, just make sure its sturdy. If you plan on doing something illegal, just make sure you don't tell the authorities, you got your idea from me.
Hope you have a great time with your new coffin and I hope I was able to answer your question, how to build a coffin.
