How to Get Rid of Fleas in Your House

Finding fleas in your house can be upsetting. But if you have pets such as dogs or cats the chances of fleas coming inside is almost inevitable. There are many products on the market to combat this situation. To start with each week shampoo your pet either dog or cat with a good Flea shampoo. After wetting the pets coat lather it up good and then let it set for a few minutes. Then rinse and repeat the shampooing process.

Also, recommended is to put flea collars on all pets in your household. This will kill off any that jump onto your pet outside so that they are not brought inside to multiply. Be sure to also check to make sure that they do not have any allergies to the flea collar. If you see your pet itching allot after you put the collar on then remove it and try another brand.

There are many different kinds of products to add to your environment such as carpet sprinkles that repel fleas or liquid floor washes or sprays.

If you are looking for a more natural way to get rid of fleas you could mix equal parts salt and baking soda together. Then sprinkle liberally throughout all carpet and on upholstery. If the fleas come into contact with this they will dry up. It takes longer to work than pesticides but it is far less harmful to people.

Fleas can be difficult to get rid of and so sometimes you must do all of these things to truly combat the problem. But the main thing is that you must be consistent in your actions to fight them. Inspect your pet regularly and remove any that you see. Brush their coat with a flea removing comb made for that purpose. Have a container of water to dip this comb into to release any fleas from it.

Fleas spread disease and suck blood from your pet and can climb onto you also. For this reason do not sleep with pets. It can be rather traumatic to discover fleas and ticks in your bed or on your scalp.

Your pet will be happier and much healthier if you consistently remove fleas from their environment. Remember to vacuum your house regularly. There are now flea repellent additives that you can add to the vacuum bag so as you vacuum it will keep the fleas from multiplying in dark areas.
