Gas pains are especially painful. The bloating and cramping can make any day or night unbearable at times. The sharp pains can feel often mimic other conditions and are often a cause for alarm. The pains can be isolated to the stomach area or can even be under the arms or chest area. Oftentimes, people feel they are having a heart attack when in fact it is simply gas.

Everyone will face gas pain at one point in time or another. Many people seek remedies on how to get rid of gas pain quickly. Thankfully, there are many methods available over the counter and homeopathically, which can end the pain caused by gas sooner rather than later. To take care of this problem one can go to the store and purchase gas pills, or they can try some other methods.

Peppermint tea has been known to be a great remedy for excess gas, as well as heartburn. If one is not a tea drinker, any remedies which has charcoal and simethicone in it, will do the trick. While these are quick fixes, if someone is experiencing gas frequently, they will need to take more proactive measures. Diet has a great deal to do with gas. Some people cannot digest certain kinds of foods, like vegetables. Eating certain things causes gas to swell into the stomach area causing sharp pains and discomfort. Some medications can also cause gas, like antibiotics.

One of the biggest items, which cause gas, is carbonated beverages. From soda’s to beer and anything with carbonation, these drinks cause excessive bloating and can produce gas. Some individuals are not able to process dairy foods, like yogurt and milk, and this can be a condition called lactose intolerance. There are true medical problems that cause gas, but most of the time it can be controlled by modifying the diet. If the gas is persistent it may be worth a trip to the doctor to see if there is an underlying medical condition.

To find out what is causing the gas one should keep a journal the dates and things eaten. By finding out what is causing the gas problems, it is easier to eliminate those items from the diet and avoid the gas pain and discomfort. To find out exactly what is causing the gas may be a trial and error process, but it will be worth it to be gas free.
