How to Get Rid of Scabies

1. Itch Mites and Scabies Rashes

What are Scabies?

Scabies are tiny mites (also known as ‘itch mites’) that live in burrows dug into the skin of their hosts. Dogs, cats, and other animals can become infested with scabies (known as ‘mange‘ on dogs) but these are a type of scabies that cannot successfully infest humans. If you become infested with scabies, chances are they came from another human being. They can be seen by the naked eye when above the skin’s surface but they are very small with adult itch mites reaching a measly 1/2mm in length.

What are the Symptoms of Scabies?

It is possible to have a scabies infestation for up to 6 weeks before exhibiting any signs at all – during which time you may be spreading them to others. When symptoms do occur they are commonly seen as rashes composed of many small, blister-like spots accompanied by itching. There is also a less common variety of the scabies mite that does not usually cause itching (Norwegian scabies). If a person is using cortisone cream this may mask the itchiness (Cortisone is not recommended for fighting scabies symptoms as it is believed to inhibit the body’s immune response to the infection – scroll down to section 2 for alternative treatments).

Identifying Scabies:

  1. See your doctor for a proper diagnosis of your symptoms. You can also discuss scabies treatments with him as he will know of the best option for your particular physiology.
  2. If it turns out that you have been infested with scabies, inform everyone that habitually comes into close contact with you to be on the lookout for scabies symptoms and refrain from sharing a bed or having intercourse with anyone until you’ve been cured.

2. Getting Rid of Scabies

The most commonly used and safest methods of eliminating scabies involve the use of creams containing either sulfur or permathrin – both of which are lethal to scabies but relatively harmless to humans. Lindane is a poison that was once used widely but has since fallen out of favor because it is EXTREMELY toxic to humans. I’ll repeat: Do NOT use products containing Lindane.

Sulfur Cream Scabies Treatment:

Sulfur creams are available over the counter at most pharmacies. If you are treating an infant, choose one that contains no more than a 2.5% concentration, for an adult you can use a stronger solution of around 10%.

Directions: For three consecutive nights apply the lotion to your body from head to toe before going to bed and do not wash it off in the morning – take your usual bath or shower in the evening just prior to your next application. This will suck because it smells, but hang in there! On the morning of day 4 you can wash it all off. Wash your bed linens and dirty laundry on day 4 as well. Anything that can’t go through the washer can be disinfested with a run through the dryer on high heat for 10 minutes.

Permathrin Scabies Treatment:

Permathrin is an over the counter mitacide that usually only requires 1-2 applications (much less than sulfur) but is slightly more toxic. This treatment should not be used on infants unless directed by your doctor. When selecting a permathrin-containing product (marketed under the name ‘Elimate’) always read and follow the instructions on the label.

  • My dog has it and his revolution medicine is not here yet…is there anything I can do for him…he is miserable…and what do I need to do to de-scabie my house?

  • I used volcanic sulfur. It works! It is a bit pricy, but who cares if you get rid of these devils. I tried everything else. This was the only thing that worked.

  • It is not fun…kinda painful..but take a HOT shower.. then soak a washcloth in Vinegar and go over your entire body from the neck down…AVOIDING THE ******* IN MALES!! The scabies mite does not like the low PH of the acetic acid in the vinegar and you get them while they are at the surface after the hot shower.

  • the best known treatment for scabies is ivermectin, cousin of avermectin but no where close seeing as aver. Is toxic. Ivermectin is widely used in human and vet. Science. In africa iver. Is giving countless people freedom from scopic mites and other parasites, ivermectin is a broadspectrum med. Lindane is toxic but extremely efficant for fighting scabies. It can be safely used if blotter/blotted on the skin on and only on burrows and new rashes, permethin is safe but slow, and sulfur is smelly but works, pyrethin (spell check) is found in flowers and also woeks great! And is safe for all.

  • Triphala is a mixture of natual herbs from india take orally one tablespoon per day until symptoms depart. Be aware that it is also a colon cleanser so you may spend some time one the toillet. also boiling the peels of onions 6 to one litre of water for 15 to 30 min and then letting the liquid cool reales an oil that will help to relieve scabies symptoms by lathering yourself with the liquid. Thanks for the other usefull tips. nATURAL REMIDIES THAT WORK ARE ALWAYS BETTER THAN CHEMICALS!!!

  • When my neice got lice we could not get rid of. did everything.
Then after fighting forever it seemed, I found some white things between my dogs eyes. When I took him to the vet he said they were lice!!!! Everything else I read had said that dogs and cats could not give you lice but I now know different. I treated him with tick and flea shampoe and got rid of the problem. 5 years later my husband now has scabies and we had taken in a stray cat. I am going to start a monthly treatment of revelution that you get from your vet immediately because we have done treatments and they keep coming back….. I am sure that once we use revelution the problem will be gone!!!!

  • this may sound a little out there but take the hottest shower that you can stand.after which cover your intire body in coke the acid in the coke helps the itching and those little guys are gone

  • I always found that mustard pads helped eased the itching. Finally A doctor gave me the proper medicine to get rid of them.

  • Hi,

I know people have suggested natural products, but if you can get hold of a lotion called ‘Derbac-M’, then great.

Wash/change all used clothes and bedding at a normal 40 degree wash. Have a warm bath. Apply this lotion all over the body before going to bed. You will feel itchy for the next few days, but as the treatments starts to work, the itching will gradually decrease. Apply once again after 3 days, and you will feel the treatment has worked.

It’s the only treatment that I have found has worked.

  • Chrysanthnum flower tea will reduce problem I don’t know if it is possible to get rid of permanetly

  • use a washclothe with vinegar and smooth into skin mix salt with baking soda and put all over body…. you may get very itchy let it sit for 10-15 minutes and rinse in shower with vinegar and use regular soap after you might want to use a new sponge

  • Prescription strength Permathrin is what you should use but I was able to MURDER my scabies with an over-the-counter cream called Nix (lice treatment). (found at Walmart, Rite Aid, Walgreens, K-Mart, etc) Though it only contains 1% permathrin, it killed my scabies…it just took 3 really heavy applications. I took a luke warm shower and applied a very heavy layer of the cream on my entire body from the neck down to my toes and left it on for 12-15 hours minimum. It stinks bad at first but it fades after a few hours. I also washed all my clothes and bed sheets in boiling hot water and dried everything with high heat. I slept on my sofa for a week covered with a sheet in which I washed EVERY day in hot boiling water and high heat! Also, I found that taking hot baths or hot showers only made the itching worse. Prescription permathrin works faster but I didn’t have the money for it.

  • with scabies keep nails cut at all times. Remember to always keep hands washed, when you scratch scabies and their eggs go underneath the nails and spread else where. please remember.

my son had it and it was so bad the doctors didnt know what was wrong with my son, untill i said i was not leaving until they found out what was wrong wit my son they even took pictures of my son cause nhe was so bad he had it for 3 months because nobody knew what it was

  • I had norweegin scabies. The rash completely covered my abdomen. I got permethrin 5% from my dr but it was unsucceseful. So I baught freedom 45 which is a treatment for dogs. It is 45% permethrin. Its very cheep. I found it at cosco. Then I baught a suphur dust for plants at osh that was 90%. I mixed 4 tubes of the freedon 45 and about a tablespoon of the sulphur dust with 5 tablespoons of vasoline. I applied it at night from neck to toe. I dusted my whole house with the sulpher. I washed my bedding and clothes in hot water.
The mites are gone and it also killed all the spiders and fleas in my house!

  • The Nix really works. I would suggest not drying off when you get out of the shower and apply a decent amount (2-3 dime size amounts or enough to cover the entire body when fully lathered). The Nix mixes with the water and creates a lather that goes easily over the the entire body (keep below the neck line). Without the water, relief doesn’t seem to come as quickly or last as long. I don’t know why, I just know that it is much more effective when it lathers. Also, if you’re out and about and seem to find some particularly annoying spots thatare itching, apply some water to the area, then immediately apply some NIX. The lather dries odorless in seconds and you should feel relief literally within a minute. This has been invaluable to me and my life. Let me know how it works for you…Seriously, try this!

  • If you try this. Keep in mind that when you first put on the cream it will go on clear (not much lather) but as it starts drying (in a minute or two) you can rub it into a lather (the lather will then fade completely clear as it finishes drying). If you have had this for a while, the first sensation may be a little stingy and smelly, but that only means it’s working (killing off the mites)..the relief comes in a minute or two when your body starts to relax from not constantly itching. Hope this helps!

  • Hi Liz,

I am also using vinegar all over my body to treat scabies as what old folks advised me. Is this really effective to treat scabies? Have you treated yourself using this?

    Thanks for your help.

    Jay

  • I used tea tree and oil of oregano in olive oil and covered my whole body then kept applying to itchy spots. It worked!!!

  • I bought NIX and it seems to help. I cant
really relax on a couch even if i put a
    blanket on it.

I get really itchy when i sit on couches,
i bought a lice killer in cvs and spray it
    on the couch.

My question is, is that freedom 45 and
that 90% sulfur, Is that harmful for ur
skin and toxic if it goes into ur pours?

Thats to much permetin for skin???

  • My husband picked up these burrowing creatures in a tropical country. We looked at them under a microscope. They were ugly tick-like things. I prayed and researched and the following strategy worked, (thank you, God!) I mixed a teaspoon of tea tree oil with a half cup of olive oil. I added a spoonful of garlic and tumeric, which stains. Then my husband brushed it all over. He put on a pair of biking pants (the form-fitting polyester kind). This is because anything made of cotton would absorb the greasy stuff. The remedy works better when is stays put on the skin. What I will add to this mix is neem oil and a bit of sulfur (not more than 10%… I had to order this from the pharmacy). That way, when the little bugs emerge to mate- they die. We had immediate results from this.

  • An excellent remedy that I have found online for scabbies was the following: First, use morning urine and 1/4 cup mustard, mix well in a spray bottle, mist all over body, and leave on for two complete hours. Then, rinse in a regular shower without using any soap. Afterwards apply an olive oil/ peroxcide mix, leave on for aprox. ten minutes. Afterwards take your regular shower. If itching continues apply toothpaste to any remaining itching areas. I hope this works for you!

  • In India, the traditional treatment for scabies is a paste made with Neem leaves and Turmeric, which is reputed to be 97% effective. It is messy, but hey! if it works what the heck.
Neem leaves are not readily available, but you can buy Neem Skin Cream with added Turmeric on the internet from the Neem People.

  • Ok look…seriously..i thought it would never go away. I started itching so bad and i just thought it was because of my cat or because of my allergies to pollen or something. But, i was not sexually active which freaked me out. Eventually i got a few weird bumps on my genital that itched a lot. I waited for a while, but then decided to finally go get checked out. Turned out, I had scabies. Believe it or not, they said i could have got it from someone just giving me a big hug and hugging me too long. Chances are slim with that, i probably got it just from laying in someones bed with them. It comes from prolonged skin to skin contact. Anyways, they prescribed me Permethryin. I washed ALL of my clothes in cold water, and then dried all of them on high til they were completely dry. I sealed my slippers and some stuffed animals and shoes in a sealed trash bag for one month. I apllied the cream like told, and a week later i put it on again cuz i was still itchy. About two to three weeks after the second application all the bumps on my genitals were totally gone. I would still get itch after working out a lot, playing tennis, (sweating) or after using a tanning bed. But, about a month or month and a half after that second application, it was all gone. My roomate never got it, and I eventually got a boyfriend after two weeks after the first application and he never got it and I am completely healed. Honestly i read so many of these things tring to figure this out, and just do what i said. I have a cat too, they can’t get the human form, and dogs cant either. So you don’t have to worry about that. They don’t transfer easily from non-skin contact either, so carpets, and cars, and stuff you are proably ok. Like i said, roomate never got it. But i wouldn’t wear their jackets or sleep with them until you have used the cream. Most people only have 3-5 actual scabies bugs on them anyway so the cream usually will kill them with one application. JUST WASH EVERYHTING cuz you have to kill the eggs. But yup, dont be frustrated if you are itch a little after the cream cuz I was itchy for amonth after, but it is gone now. So DO everything I said and you will be fine! e-mail me with questions…doublefault3015@aol.com!

  • Does Tea Tree Oil work? I just got diagnosed on Monday and I am so worried. It took me about 3 weeks and then I finally went to the doctor to see what they were- they weren’t that bad at first and I thought they’d go away. Boy was I wrong!! The doctor prescribed me Permethrin and I’ve done it once, but I still keep getting bumps. I keep reading stories about people that have had them for years and I am so scared that I won’t get rid of them now. Any suggestions?? I have washed everything in hot hot water and haven’t worn anyhting twice or slept on the same sheets. A lot of my bedding is in bags in the garage, but I still feel like that’s not enough.

  • umm all creams that people suggest are all bullshit ! Has anyone ever heard of Lindane lotion ? you get it at the pharmacy but it needs to be perscribed its 130$ . why is it that not one site mentions it !! LINDANE LOTION . go to the doctor smack him in the face for making you buy stupidity and tell him to perscribe you lindane .

  • I jus used permethrin yesterday but I’m still alittle itchy and I feel like somns crawling on my skin, is this normal?

  • well it all started with my sister catching scabies and well needless to say it was very contangious i got it my mom and dad also! well we use this cream for 14 days it should go away but i am still itching anyone help!

  • Here is what does not work.

Tea Tree Oil, or any of the usual herbals. I have not tried Pine Oil, or PennyRoyal, or Oregano, but did try Citronella oil, Pepper (which is the source of the insecticide Piperine), Tea Tree oil, Goldenseal, MSM, Clove oil and Neem. While there was relief from itching and there was peeling, the redness persisted. Thyme oil, Chapparal, topical vinegar, Citronella and Camphor is supposed to work. I think the camphor is the key, as any insecticide remedy I have seen include camphor in it. It is the phenols in thymol and other herbs that the insects do not seem to like.

    What did/does work:

25% precipitated sulfur in vaseline. Simply mix one tablespoon of dry sulfur with 3 tablespoons of vaseline. You get a yellow custard like paste. It smells like brimstone, but does not burn. Don’t get it in your eyes, as it will cause tearing. Leave it on for three days. Reapply often. Change clothes every day with newly laundered clothes, laundering your old ones that day. Every day launder your bed sheets as well. Handle old clothes with sulfur/vaseline on hands. After three days, take a bath with borax and baking soda in the water. Put sodium carbonate (baking soda) and borax in your wash every day. Wash on hot twice, and dry on hot twice. Put everything that cannot be water washed in a plastic bag with a dust of diatomaceous earth, boric acid, and talc and pack it garbage bags with 40 moth balls. Leave for two weeks. Take the clothes, bags etc out, vacuum them, and send them to dry cleaning. Wear throw away plastic gloves and use the sulfure and vaseline on hands. Avoid most contact with uncleaned clothes. Dust furniture with boric acid, diatomaceous earth and talc and leave for three days, then vacuum carefully and steam clean. While vacuuming or dusting, wear a 3M cotton dusk mask. Diatomaceous earth is a fine silica powder and it is really no good for the lungs. Boric acid is poisonous to ingest. 6 grams could kill you. Don’t put it in a steamer, or steam or iron until it is vacuumed completely. It might be a good idea to ventilate well while cleaning. There is no guarantee that spraying furniture with permethrin and pyperonil for mites will do a complete job as you have to get it on the insect. The powder will, as the insect will eventually get into it. Children should not get powders on them. For that matter they should not get permethrins on them either. As far as lindane goes, I have seen dogs that had to be put down because they got too much on them. They lick their fur and if you wash them with lindane, they will get brain deterioration. If you have kids, then they should stay elsewhere while this powder disinfecting is going on. To disinfect children’s bedding, it would be advisable to clean it with a steam cleaner with borax and baking soda in the steamer. If it can be afforded, chuck the stuff, as that is way more sure. Clean all surfaces that may stand it with 1 gallon of hot water with one cup of javex bleach added. Borax and baking soda washing water will do for sensitive surfaces. It is not a bad idea to bathe in water with about 6 caps of bleach added. Nurses have noted that this seems to help. No worse than a swimming pool. Protect your eyes. Once the house is more or less disinfested, and in about one week, do the sulfur body treatment again for three days.

  • I was absolutely desperate, so I have been treating these things with nothing but IcyHot for about 5 days now and they are almost all gone! No more extremely sore patches from them digging in either. If I knew it was this easy I’d have done it months ago. It is unbelievable the misery they cause.

  • I used Nix over the counter. One pharmacy I called said nothing over-the-counter would work, but I was desperate. I was so grossed out by the yuck of bugs eating me…

Nix works! I used it every day for three days, which is not what the label says (it says two treatments a week apart) but I couldn’t stand the thought of waiting to see if it was working. Within two days, I could tell it was working because there was no spread. The existing sites still itched insanely but I was able to bear it knowing it was working. Now nine days later, they’re completely gone. TRY NIX!

  • ok wel i have had scabies for like 3 months and i have tryed lice killer and scabie cream and nothing is working i really need help its on me havds my whole chest and stomach and my legs it like it keeps spreading no matter what i use i need help asap i cant even sleep from the itching ugh,,,, im beging to get hopless please help me!

  • I have six people in my house. My husbands sister lives in the basement appartment with her father and she brought it home to us. after about two weeks we all are in terrible pain. My two girls are 5 and 2 and they cant do any dramatic treatments but the doctors haven’t helped. please help us. if you have any idea of how to help children and clean my house with non toxic cleaners let me know.

  • I got scabies several months ago. I believe it was from a dog I had to put down because he was old and had severe mange. Here’s how I got rid of it in 24 to 48 hours. I had some bathroom cleaner from Dollar General, same stuff as Lysol or Dow. You know, the stuff with the scrubbing bubbles. I just sprayeed it on my chest, belly, and even around my crotch area. I left it on for 1 to 2 minutes. I even rubbed the foam around a little to sort of work it into the skin. Next, I hopped in the shower and made sure I cleaned and rinsed it off, WELL. Next, I applied liberally some aloe vera gel from Fruit of the Earth. Its 100% aloe vera. This took care of the redness and scratchiness. Kept applying the aloe vera daily for about a week or two to completely heal up and smooth the skin from the scaring and scratch marks. Hope that this helps you all.

  • Scabies is God’s way of punishing you for having premature sex. Thanks for your time guys. Yours trully Billy Zegeer

  • I had scabies when I was younger and while I was using the cream from the doctor, I also had to wrap all of my clothes and bedding up in a plastic bag for 7 days to kill the scabies that were on them as well.

  • Hello I have been battleing with scabies for about 8 months now im at my witts end i do everything i am told to do by the doctor wash everything spray everything and treat with nix yet i can not get rid of them i spend countless hours online trying to come up with a solution to this but evertything i try doesnt work PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!

  • Does anyone see a small splinter-like looking mark at the itch site with scabies? Ihave many of them when they are new, then they turn into a brown dot (just like a freckel). I think it is the fecal matter. So please tell me if you see them on you, brown small thin straight line. PLUS – Has anyone tried neemoil/capsules or sulphur?
I have had scabies I think for more than a year when my elder mother was in the hosp. & nursing home. She had a problem since then with horrible itching and I found fecal matter in her hair when I used the nit comb on her. We treated her w/ Permethin 5% creme (rx from doctor) and it calmed them down but did not get rid of them. They can continue being active for weeks and weeks after a ‘sucessful’ treatment (?), which I don’t understand.
As for me, I had head lice (her too) like crazy!! I tried NIX 2 times and the 5% creme she had to no avail with the nits or nymphs (eggs or just hatched eggs).
PROBLEM: After talking to CDC, NIH, Harvard and other schools, both of these treatments are pyrethrins and are only about 30% effective. You see, the mites have built up an immunity to this drug over the past several decades and N. America has an uncontrolable out break of all sorts of mites (bed bugs, head, body lice, scabies…)but the products are still being sold and Dr.’s are still writing Rx’s, they do work on 30% of people. I am sure if any of you have looked around much on the net you have seen this. Just search ‘head lice harvard school of public health’ and you will find a good article.

BUT WHAT AM I TO DO??? – I will try the sulfur now I guess (been doing the olive oil treatment for a few weeks and its hard to keep it up, for head lice)
Now I am convinced I have scabies because I get the bites all over me, they itch and then leave brown spots. I feel them bite and see nothing, then scratch it and a red bump comes right up. I test it with the black felt tip ink test (search that too) and sure enough there is a dot (mite) and a long scratch, which is the tunnel they burrow. Just swipe the spot with black/blue felt tip ink, wait for it to dry and them wipe it off with water or alcohol soaked guaze pad. You will see the mite or tunnels! – I’m going NUTS!!!

    • The line you are seeing is the burrow from the adult mite. Soak in a hot tub of 1-2 cups borax and a small bottle of hydrogen peroxide until water is cold. Dunk your head in for at least 10 minutes. Find my reply on another post above ( from a person called blah…for full erradiction

  • Thanks for this site. My family was suffering and spent $30 on Tea Tree oil which did not work at all. I post this here so folks will know Tea Tree Oil doesn’t always work and we got scammed.

  • Wrap all ur furniture in plastic for 7 days even 10 days to be exxtra safe. even mattresses. spray down the shower and toilet after every use. keep fingernails clipped and scrub with a toothbrush, they can stay under ur fingernails. i vaccuum 2x a day and dont forget to vaccum ur car.mop ur floors, after every time u clean change clothes and wash them. make sure its high heat when wahing and drying. to lessin the thing u have to clean or worry about try to put most of ur clothes and stuffed animals pillows in large gallon plastic bags and dont open for 7 days.

  • (1) If your using the lotion I suggest asking for pain pills so you don’t feel the effect of the lotion but you know its working it takes a few days for you to start feeling the results.
    (2) Wash everything you’ve touched on HOT water (bed sheets, cloth, ect.) If it’s a item use clorox wipes and clean your rug with the powder. (powder used for cleaning rugs)Anything you knows will clean those hard to reach places even sofas.
    (3) For kids and those who can’t use harsh treatments take them to a nighbor hood pools a heated pool is the best. If your family has scabies and a hot shower feels real great the pool is the way to go. Scabies don’t know how to hold there breath and swim. Lol!
    (4) If you feel like there are scabies in your bed sheets and can’t seem to sleep at night. Time for new bed sheets but I suggest you buy new ones AFTER you start feeling like there going away. So you don’t reinfest your bed. However, if you feel like you can’t sleep at ALL then bedsheets might just have to be bought.

HOT TIP: If you see a family member itching and they start to itch increasingly, take them a doctor A.S.A.P don’t put it off. The earlier you get treatment the better. An one way my family caught scabies was though not using the paper covers so, put the paper cover the toilet when your not using you family restroom.

  • It is infuriating how wrong, irresponsible, and frankly evil much of the scabies information on Internet is. Even the US Govt CDC website proudly reports that scabies burrows don’t happen on the scalp; I’m convinced my several treatments have recurred from re-infection due to these zit-like lesions on my scalp. Looking back, I have had about 5 of these on my (fully haired) scalp over the past 6 months of my scabies battle.

Many of the google search links that rank at the top are of these blogs gorged with spam ads for asinine $50 reports on how to treat scabies, the most insanely irritating of all infections. I assume these are Tee Tree Oil and 10% Sulfur Ointment treatments, peddled by people who work at the companies that sell that. Yeah, I’ve tried that too. This is the perfect crime – sell a snake oil treatment where nobody follows directions because you smell like a portable toilet to anyone within 20 feet of you in public. (what is that portable toilet smell, anyway?)

The medical industry is absolutely ridiculous and evil. My doctor at a very respectable hospital repeats all the urban legend “facts” about scabies, and seems to read all this junk science repeated endlessly on Internet. What a freaking joke. It really seems like death is the only cure to this nasty bug.

  • I attempted most of the scabies remedies suggested on the forum. Most worked, though, with limited, short-term effects. I had no health insurance, so professional assistance was not an option. I tried: Over the counter 2% Permethrin; bleach baths; bug spray, Off, Deep Woods, containing 25% Deet; Neem; even straight bleach. All worked to a very limited extent; that is, the red itchy bumps always reappeared. I kept reading. Finally I tried two things simultaneously: Anti-bacterial Dial soap and vitamin C. I purchased Dial Soap, $ 1.50, the anti-bacterial Dial soap, it worked immediately. I have been showering with Dial anti-bacteerial soap ever since. Try it. As I was, you may be pleasantly surprised. I mentioned a second thing I did. I also purchased some vitamin-C from Wal-Mart. The chewable, sweet tasting kind. I tastes very much like the childrens tart candy. Each tablet was 500 milligrams, and I usually took approximately fifteen tablets each day, until I had exhausted the 60 tablet bottle. Though I am going to continue to take them as the taste is pleasant and vitamin-C is a very effective antioxidant,,I do not thing it was the vitamin C that finally destroyed the scabies. I am most certain the antibecterial Dial soap did the trick. I continue to use the soap, it is fantastic.

  • Sulfur mixed with vaseline is what my mom used when I was younger and had it…..it smelled really bad, and my pjs and linens had to be thrown away, but it took 1 night to get rid of it…course she went through great pains to seal off everything for a week! go on vacation!!

  • Ok, Amanda seems to have the only semi good advice… I was told my sevral doctors and good sourses that Scabies THRIVE on HEAT they need BODY HEAT to survive. so using heat of any kind to try and kill them…. wont work. They live for 2-3 days on objects without heat, so linens and everything, need to be washed and dried then put in plastic bag and frozen for sevral days… its a pain in the ass but its the only way. this is the most annoing shit ever.

  • Hello I have been batteling with super scabies for a long, long time. There were many times along the way where I felt hopeless and desperate and I really questioned the quality of my life. And although it’s not over yet I am so much better,so much recoverd that I have started to beleive this can be healed,finished,no-more.I have tried almost everything under the sun .I have been ripped off so many times but it had to be that way to find the truth of what works and what does’nt.Sulfur-GOD,s gift.Sulfur has helped me so many, many times. The sulfur I use the most is plain garden sulfur which is just plain old enviromental sulfur.I use a 13% in vasoline to that I add a couple of cysteine capsuls and a couple of methinine capsuls and a splash of desitin (zinc) ointment. I put this on at night.I apply it to the scalp as well and in my ears. It’s the scalp that has been the mast difficult to clear.I was with Lavender or rosemary shampoo/body wash. I get both from the health foood store. In the day I use enzymes I have used them with the sulfur and sometimes cause I need a break I only use enzymes.Enzymes work by desolveing the skeleton of the parasite. If i am using sulfur in the sun I also take Cysteine and methonine orally. There is an interaction between them, oxygen and sunlight like no other.Vitamin D-the number one immune defence. The enzymes I use are Kleen Free. They have helped me so much.In areas where it was terribly infested I used clay.(Not demetious earth all that did was irritate) Just plain eddible clay.I will mix it up let it breath for at least 6 hour and then scoop out what i’m using at the time and stir in some enzymes.I apply this to areas and leave it on best at bedtime if you can cause is messy,it is also very healing.when my hands were so badly infected I used alot of enzyme clay.I would put it on and get out in the sun.reapplying as it dried and fell offI am playing with a couple of other thing as well that I beleive will help in the long run but the results are still out.I do take B vitamins and good old minerals.Makes such a differance.Bob I really hope some of this helps.i know where your coming from beleive me.You will beat this. I beleive I am building a resistance would’nt that be something.

  • Reading these comments scares me, to think that I could have scabies for a year +?! I’ve had them for three weeks now and I am living in hell, I’m covered in bruises from itching so much and am scared to sleep in the same bed as my boyfriend. My doctor prescribed me Derbac M Malathion liquid cream but it can only be used once a week, for the love of god I cant wait that long for it to work! This has to be the worst illness of a kind that I’ve ever had. please HELP ME so I’m not stuck with the little monsters taking over my body for a whole year.

  • I just wanted to say that if you have a rash you should see a dr. or if you can’t afford one at least look up any and all kinds of rashes before trying treatments and getting frustrated cus it’s not working there are many things it could be like most people don’t know you can get mange just like a dog and it can look similar
and make sure to fallow the treatments exactly they don’t work if you don’t do it right
also for the person who said that they are in her scalp doctors do say that they don’t go in your scalp but if you feel that they are i’ve been told that you can use lice shampoo to kill them on your skin if you can’t afford the cream so it should work fine on your scalp cus that’s what it’s for, but be careful on using it on your skin cus it is toxic i know about it cus i was treated for scabies by a dr and i was told to treat my family too but didn’t have the money to get a script for everyone that’s when they told me to buy rid and use it the same as the cream i don’t remember the directions now cus it was 4 years ago but it was the 2 time apply one so look into it this should help people that can’t afford the script

    • Fyi… Mange is scabies in animals. ( I am in animal rescue and see it all the time) there are 2 types for animals, 1 is contagious to humans and other animals, the other is not. Lice shampoo will not kill scabies.. Tea Tree Oil is an amazing and safe way to effectively erradicate these nasty buggers from your person.. ( safe to use on children) BUT you must put on entire body for at least 2 weeks. A drop or to on the skin in an area, then use a cotton ball to spread all over a couple time a day. You must be diligent about it. ( bath in the evening and apply before going to bed reapply in the am). Wash all bedding and night clothes in very hot water and borax each morning and spray the mattress with 1 part bleach and 3 parts water. Vaccuum daily, wipe everything down with the bleach mixture several times a day. These nasty mites CAN get on your face and your scalp. (ADULTS ONLY may soak in a tub of 1 – 2 cups borax and a small bottle of hydrogen peroxide dipping your head into the water for several minutes. Make sure all body parts get covered and move around so it stirs up the mix. Stay in until water is cold and drip dry, towels are not your friends) you may also use fels naptha sulfer soap to wash with in the morning. Good luck

  • I have a friend that had Scabies, she explained that it was the most awful itchy feeling anyone could ever imagine. She explained not wanting to take the itchy feeling anymore, she soaked herself in a warm bath with CLOROX. She says it worked and the SCABIES went away. I really don’t know what this can cause later on, but if it helps to kill the mites, I would try it myself.

  • I’m about a week into treatment and am a bit confused by the varying info I’ve read so far…

I could not have gotten it from sexual contact since I’ve been inactive for longer than the times listed for acquiring them and seeing results. Thankfully mine are not in the groin area. They showed up on my feet with a few popping up later on my legs and wrist.
    (1) Is it possible I got em at the beach or grass while playing vball?

    (2) My main question primarily involves how to not spread these buggers as several sources state that they are highly contageous and easily spread yet then say you can return to normal contact (work/school/etc) the day after treatment??

It’s also posted that they do not easily transfer from clothing or carpet, yet I’ve been changing my clothing/sheets/etc. several times per day and actually sleeping on the couch to stay away from the bed (memory foam mattress). I can only guess that I acquired newer mites a few days after the initial treatment from some external source since I applied the permethrin head to toe. Newer ones showed up at the same sites as the previous ones, plus a new one on my shin, thigh, and wrist possibly from the fingernails since I didn’t read to get cream in those frequently til later.

I’ve been VERY good about not scratching however, despite the hellacious itching. It does look like the cream is working after about a week and a 2nd head to toe application of the cream plus more frequent re-application of it to the affected areas.
    (3) Is there any danger to doing that? Some sites said it is toxic while another even said it can lead to the mites developing a resistance?? How that could be possible when one use is supposed to kill em all seems to make no sense.

Any responses to my 3 questions would be greatly appreciated. Links to verifiable sources are even better vs. the randomness across the web and people’s comments.

  • Use these tips at your own risk, use common sense, test any creams or oils before using in case of bad reactions. Here’s how we spent two months getting rid of them.

NOTE: Permethrin, the prescription medication for scabies is TOXIC TO CATS. When you have the cream on for 8-12 hours, as prescribed, do not handle your cat or let them sit on your bare skin or walk on the sheets where you slept. Cats have died having been given dog flea powder that has a pyrethrin base, as this medication does. We have cats and have used permethrin, and they are okay, but we didn’t handle them or walk around on the floors without socks after putting it on the soles of our feet

For COMFORT: Any clothing or socks touching the itchy parts seems to set off itching. Wear light, loose clothing and hold as still as you can. Wear light socks so as not to transmit it to rugs, furniture, floors. But if your skin is exposed, don’t let it touch fabric on furniture or bed clothes, kitchen chairs that have fabric seats. cover furniture with sheets, and wash the sheets often. Cut your fingernails, and don’t scratch through fabric, it might infect the fabric.

At night when it seems to be worse, I used wet towels or torn T shirt pieces, and wrapped my itchiest parts in them, laid on a large towel to keep the bed dry, and the itching calmed down and I was able to sleep. This might help with a baby or small child. I soaked the towels in the epsom salts mixture, but, again, if you can’t have magnesium, just use wet towels.

My husband said he thought Bactine spray helped his itching. We bought sulfur soap and used it for two months. I like 1 tsp organic neem oil in 1/4 cup of body lotion, used several times a day.

Fabrics are not your friends!! Mites and eggs can survive on fabric for 72 hours.

Use HOT water to wash. Some Energy Star appliances only have a warm water setting, (I wonder if this isn’t exacerbating the situation) this is not hot enough! Shut down, but not off, the cold water valve behind washer. If you shut off the cold water the washer may stall on a rinse cycle. We put a cup of vinegar in the wash, not sure if this helped.

Use Clorox wipes to clean toilet seats (top and bottom), flip flops, leather or vinyl furniture, car steering wheels, car seats, hard surfaces you touch.

Do not use a bath towel, kitchen towel, washcloth, hand towel, underwear, socks more than once in 5 days. They need to be washed in HOT water, dried in HOT temps.

If the backs of your legs and knees touch the car seats, cover the seats with sheets or towels and wash them daily. Sleep in long pants, socks and shirts so your legs/ankles don’t touch each other and possibly spread it.

what worked for us was to use all of our clothing and towels, and make labeled piles of days of the week on a wall in a spare bedroom, and put the freshly washed clothing in the pile for the day you wore it, then don’t touch it or use it again for 5 days.

BOIL socks and underwear, kitchen towels, face towels, washcloths.

All the cream and pills in the world won’t help if you reinfect yourself from fabric. Save some of the cream, store it in the refrigerator, and put it on small outbreaks that will happen after using the cream. Or get the Nix (2% permethrin) and put it on spots. It takes 10 days for spots to appear, so even if you think you’re clear, be vigilant in not reinfecting for at least two weeks.

  • Here’s how we spent two months getting rid of them. We got it from sharing socks and hand towels on a vacation. Fabrics are not your friends!! Mites and eggs can survive on fabric for 72 hours.

  • I have had Scabies now for.. Ya know what I dont even know. It started as what seemed to be mosquito bites of some sort, little red bumps here and there on the arms. It WAS 2 months before i broke out severly as the effects are extremley visible at the moment. I increasingly was getting more and more itch more and more bumps. My family said that looks bad you should see a doc, So I eventually did and I was duagnosied with scabies :(. I was prescribed Derbac M ehich I have just finished the first applicaton and am gunna apply the second later today. I believe its rubbish though cause I have read at least researched 50 hours on this crap over the past 4 days and have been taking extreme cleaninig measures e.g changing and bathing dialy, sheets, vaccuming, and everything I can think of. Yet back to why Derbac M/Dermac* i still have new rashes appearing just above my forearms and i know these are new cause it started on the creases of the wrists, I know these new pimples are moe of them that have obviously not been affcted by the crappy Crapbac M because of the punprickle sensations i get from them. (ESPCIALLY WHEN WEARING LONG SLEEVES)which is all the time. Anyway I hate knowing I had this Since July and I want rid of it. I have an OCD with cleaning as it is and this doesnt help. I have had 10 hours slep in the past week it has intensified so. I wanna fell like dying and just never waking up again. I fell embarresed and confidentless around and in public. I feel bad cause i got family in this house snd yhey gotta have treatment too and i dont wanna infect them. Im going crazy and crazier examaning my body every bathe to find new burrows i wanna get rid of this. But the most paralyzing feeling is, I have no idear where I contracted this from. I want my life back im deteriorating heavily by the day and I need sleep. Sleep i miss ypou s much. 🙁

  • There seems to be a case of scabies going around, when i first got it weeks ago my friend said they looked a little bit like scabies, but i went to the doctor and they said that it was not scabies but a ingrown hair infection and to take anitbiotis for it and it should go away the doctor also told me to take anithistamines, i think the anithistabmines worked a little but i cant keep taking them, the itch seems to come and go and get wrose at night, the scratching is driving me insane, my skin burns, i cant sleep. i have not recived anyother treatment for it and 3 of my friends have now got it, but suprised that my family has not been infected. my wonds started to bleed and tonight would be the worst! its almost been 2 months and i wish that it would just go away!!! i cant deal with this anymore.

  • When I first started itching I had no bumps or spots anywhere it was just random itchin and now that my doctor says I have them I relize I do somebody plz advise me of the best ways to kill these little devils this is the most annoying thing that has ever happened ito me no joke I would do anything to kill them I’m so tired of them its been about a month and I don’t want to be around anybody someone please help

  • I’m not sure how long our family has had this problem exactly. what i do know is that in July of 2009, my son was covered from head to feet. first doctor, misdiagnosed him (in August)and then everyone else started noticing the little bumps (end of September). eventually in October we loaded up and went to the hospital and was correctly diagnosed. thing is, i can get rid of them for awhile but they eventually come back. not sure if we are re-infesting one another. doctor’s need to be better informed on this subject and give the proper home treatment rules.

the thing that i found that works best for me at night while sleeping to keep them calmed down is to stay cool, almost cold. i keep a fan blowing on me with just a sheet and no heat on in the room. i sleep so much better, no itching! might be something to try. also, something i didnt think about in the beginning, get the lice spray for tennis shoes and such. especially if you go without socks, even if it is just to walk to the mailbox or car.

finally found a part time job in this terrible economy and will be able to put forth more effort (meaning $$) to get this problem solved soon. hope my suggestion/tip helps some…

  • My family recently Caught Scabies and the cream didnt seem to help!! So I sprayed Lysol on my body from my neck down and it took them away! I dont know if there is any bad side effects to doing this but it helped me and I havent gotten anymore!! It does burn on the open sores but it will stop after a few minutes…Good luck!!

  • My daughters recently got infected and I still haven’t figured out where the heck they came from they share a bed because my youngest refuses to sleep alone. I took them to the doc he told me what it was gave me a script I put it on them then sprayed their beds and all the furniture down with rubbing alcohol 91% because that kills head lice. A few weeks later they got it again and had it for a week before I found out because my youngest daughter didn’t want to have to put the medicine on due to the burning.I only found out when her sister was sent home from school by the nurse with a rash she suspected was scabies. I am frustrated because now my husband has them I guess from applying the medicine this time I don’t have them yet but he can’t get rid of them. I have no idea where they came from in the first place but I know I have busted my butt to get rid of them. I know you can definitely get them from the grass (I got them that way when I was 15 and rolled down a hill) but my daughters are allergic to grass so that’s out. I honestly don’t know how NOT to spread them We wash in hot water and anything that can’t be washed gets dried in the dryer for at least 20 mins on high I woulds also invest in a spray bottle and lots of rubbing alcohol and VACUUM VACUUM VACUUM EVERYTHING in your house every nook and cranny of your furniture thats all I know to tell you. The ER dr from the 2nd trip told me to flea bomb the house. I guess that’s an idea but I have to figure out what to do with the snake, dog, and cat. I really hope this helps somebody

  • These barstards are ruining my life lmao. I swear i wil kill everylast one of them suns of bitches. Im going 2mro to get al of the above read treatments. These scabies must jus go bak fum wer thy came fum lmao..its so embarisn parkin wud chicks an havin to start scratchn.. Hw are u to tel sumbody u have scabies? Sheesh.

  • Well….idk how long i have had this,i know my sister had it about 4 months ago.. so i started to notice red lil bumps and started to itch. they gave me permethrin cream 5% and it just makes me itch worse. so this really sucks.. i hope this goes away soon because i cant stand it at all!

  • My husband got scabies back to wards the end of July, beginning of August so we treated me, him and our son with ivermectin. (the pill) ( my son and I had no symtoms) and then went of vacation for 5 days. Before we left I washed, vaccumed and cleaned everything. When we came back we had no trouble and the rash had gone form my husband. Then the first of November my son started getting what looked like scabies on his feet. I took him to the doctor and he told me he didnt but I knew he did. It got worse so I took him back and the doc told me he had scabies, which of course I already knew. He treated teh whole family with ivermectin again (this time my husband and I had no symptoms). This time the scabies did not go away. My son never stopped itching. THe rash did go away for a few days but came back so the doctor sent us to a dermatologist. The dermatologist told us he still had a few scabies and a rash that meant he was allergic to the scabies more than most people. So he wrote us a script for the lotion stuff and my son the lotion and the pill. So I get to wash, vaccume, and treat everyone and everything again. I have a friend who got rid of it I just dont understand how my son got it 3 months later. Ive read some on Need oil and sulfur soap and wonder if I can do that after I take the script from the doc or if that would be too much?

  • I was told to use SelsomBlue, that doesn’t work, the drug store told me to use head lice shampo, so i took a hot shower applied shampo directly out bottle to my skin, rub in and sit for ten minutes, wash off. One bottle will treat you three times, walmart brand is about $8.00. Do this for 3 days, wait 3 days and apply again 3 days, then wait 4 days, and repeat 3 days, this should cover it..also use the lice products all over your home, bedding, car seats, pillow covers, this stuff is alot harder to get rid of than head lice. Remember TREAT YOUR WHOLE BODY AND EVERYONE IN THE HOME, SMALL CHILDREN CONSULT DOC.

  • OM’G’S! SCABIES! wow, where to begin?? these lil devils, ew, i want my life back! i began itching back in mid december (2010) i had lil dots on my body, the itching just got worse to where i began cryin bc the pain. i researched this online an told my sister take me to the er i think i have scabies. she didnt beleive me, just kept sayin no its not. i ignored her. went to the hospital an the dr diagnosed me with “ezxema” ha what a joke. w/e tho. so i got some antibiotics an a cream from them an when on my way. so i used the meds as directed, but it seemed to not work. i then began gettin patches of some sort in the webs of my fingers in feb 2011, mind u this itching has now been going on for 2 months. so i then began noticing red dots on my arms, wrists, inner thighs, an belly, chest, an kneck. it killed! the itching made me wanna die! i couldnt sleep i couldnt shower its like i didnt have my life! so i went to the er, diff hospital. dr said well u have scabies. i said i knew it! so he gave me some cream, an told me back in dec i had scabies, not ezxema, an the antiobiotics made the scabies WORSE! i was in shock! how did i get this? i got this cream starts with an “E” but anywho, i was told to aplly it once then after a week it should start going away. the itching now is still intense, im scratching these lil bumps open, ive learned the itching stops if cold. its snowing an freezing so when im outside, i dont itch! so tonight ima try sleeping with a fan no blanket. ima spray my body in lysol to, idk what the lysol will do to my body itself, but im ready to do ne thing to get rid of this! i miss sleep, i feel nasty, an very contagious, im embrassed. just ew. i hope this helps u as to knw what exactly scabies can do! its ruining me! hurts badly in my webs of my fingers. an my tatas… :/ but ima keep researching to kill these lil *****!!

  • I tried the permithrin 5% cream the doctor recommended, I washed all my clothes and bedding and pretty much disinfected my entire house and guess what a week later I am still itching!!! Why wont these little bastards die??? I’m already desperate I have been itching since Christmas thanks to my dumb uncle who came over to visit knowing that he had scabies and was highly contagious. I have a 1 year old daughter and I’m afraid that she will catch this stupid parasite! Gosh I wish someone would tell me what is the best cure for this parasite? At this point in time I am willing to do anything to get rid of the scabies. I’m going crazy please help for the love of humanity!!!!

  • My father starting itching last may and then my mom and they thought they were allergicto their detergent. then i got it in july and was completely frustrated with whatever was eating at me. Tried permithean which was prescribed by a doctor and it did not work. Desperate i called my homeopathic doctor who is really amazing. He suggested neem oil, tea tree oil and lavander oil mixed with witch hazel alcohol in a bath and told me to sprinkle diatomaceous earth inside around the parameters of my house. Well, I googled DE and found that not only is it an excellent way to eliminate scabies (by now i was so sure thats what it was)it also had many health benefits if taken internally, you just have to make sure that it is 100 percent food grade. It costs about 10.00 and goes a long way. I even heard someone who covered themselves in it for two weeks. It works!!! I felt no itching for over a month and then i must have come into contact again somehow and got just a few bites and i just cover my body up to my head and sleep in it! I have been taking a tablespoon twice a day for three months and my hair is thinker, nails and skin are healthier, i dont get depressed too often and the doctor just gave me the best health report ever!! I feel bad for anyone who gets this!!! its a nightmare, but I am so glad I discovered DE and you will be too…just google it!!

  • I see someone said they had been “scammed”, when using e.g. tea tree oil that someone suggested. I want to say : this infection is so strange that what help for some might not help others. So there is no question of a scam – just a question of trying absolutely anything.
    My story:
    1. I thought the red bumpes around my ankles were flea or mosquito bites. My left elbow was next – then my two knees – then my back, then at the bottom of my skull in my hair. I thought I had an allergic reaction to the antibiotics that I was taking. Bottlomline: I should have gone to the doctor IMMEDIATELY.

    2. Visit to the doctor: He uhmed and ahhed – because it was in my hair, he was unsure that it is in fact scabies. Bollocks: I have since learnt that many people get in in their hair! He did prescribe Permethrin 5% lotion (also for my husband, who has no symptoms) – 2 bottles each.

    3. Using the Permethrin. Tip : cover the entire body from the neck down (in my case I also covered the lower part of my skull – in the hair). Do not wash it off! Next morning cover the whole body again – leave for at least 8 hours before taking a shower.

    4. I also used 2 flea bombs in the house (one in the lounge and one in the corridor in front of the main bedroom and study). Open all wardrobes – use as directed and air the house afterwards. I cleared away and washed any unnecessary fabric – e.g. cloth over round table, scattercushions (wash covers or place in sun for whole day).

    5. The recovering process: A part which is sometimes more painful is the recovery. Itching does not stop for a long, long time. Scarring can occur.

    RECOVERING – MY TIPS:
    1. I am fortunate that I have just signed up with a company to get their weight loss products at a discount and they sell body creams and other products as well. I ordered a bottle of their animal shampoo (for dogs, cats and horses!) and remembered that the lady at the office said it helps for head lice on humans. I STARTED TO USE THIS SHAMPOO DAILY – so did my husband. Wet the body, work up a lather in your hair and cover every nook and cranny – use more to cover your body – stand in the shower for at least 5 minutes before washing off. Luckily the shampoo is actually quite soft and good smelling. The irony is that my permed hair now looks curlier with the use of the animal shampoo! I will continue to use this shampoo for at least another month.
    2. CREAMS and other products: I soothe my skin with the creams but still when I go to bed I start itching about two to three hours later. Sometimes I cannot help it and let rip and scratch. At the moment I find the best thing to use is an Aloe Vera spray – my husband sprays my whole body (never mind the linen – it can be washed) and this seem to cool me down. In the morning after my shower with above-mentioned shampoo, I apply two different creams: one for the “open” type bumps and one where healing is taking place.

    3. I wash my towel after every use and will continue to do so for at least another month. I also wash my bedclothes daily. I wash the linen every three days now and spray them in between with a bug guard containing citronella. I also spray my feet with this bug guard twice a day.

I do believe it is important to treat yourself with creams to help the healing process.
MY HEART GOES OUT TO ANY PERSON WITH SCABIES.
    From a fellow sufferer.

  • If you are without insurance, the way I got rid of a literal infestation ( 3 dogs, a cat and one Human ) do the following.
Go to the feed / livestock store, get the following
One 250 ML Ivermax Injectible – a Ethyline glycol based 1% ivermectin, 20-35$
    One 250 ML Ivermax Cattle pour-on – a Isopropol based 5% ivermectin, 15-25$
    One 3 Ml Hypodermic.

Take 3 Ml of the injectable ( ORALLY ) – In THE MOUTH – DO NOT INJECT.
Cover you body with the pour-on, Apply it with a cloth, or your hands.
    Head to toe.
If you feel anything twichy or crawling later touch up with a paper towel dipped in the pour-on
take another cycle if it feels like it’s coming back.
Clean everything, wash everything and get some permetherin bombs (raid 3 pack)
    nuke the place
if you have a bad, multiple colony infection it might take a few applications.
    DON’T GIVE UP.
If you do, they will have your lages and arms swollen in just a few hrs.
    I Know.

About Ivermectin. I was prescribed 30 mg of stromectol initially, but could not afford it at the time. I tried the horse paste and had mixed results. The ivermax gave better results, but didn’t cure it in the expected dose. I upped the dose to 20 CC and experienced both the elimination of the bugs and strange, monochromatic LSD-like (floating gray and blue dots, swirls, boxes and other geometric ) visual aberrations for a day. As I sit here later this day, I feel no side effects.
I say, use both until you feel funny, It kills those damn bugs.
That is all you want to do, I Know, and I pity you.

  • I’m a sufferer with Cerebral Palsy, and use crutches to walk; which makes it harder to withstand the itching, and causes swollen feet and ankles. I’ved had scabies for 10 months now, and was diagnosed 2 months ago (I guess it was scabies when the itching first began because a friend of mine warned me about his case also). I, too, was given the perscription Permethrin, however, feeling as though it doesn’t seem to help. I use the cream every day it seems like now, and when I take showers within the a.m., my skin burns terribly. I have also been taking Zertec by mouth, although that only numbs the itching/burning/pain for 2 hours. Do any of you know exactly what can kill this disease?

    Best Regards x

  • We have had these things for over a year now. But I rarely itch at night and seem to be able to keep them off myself, it’s my husbands denial that keeps them coming back. He also will not tell his friends so now we have that problem.
Here’s where we are at – Permethrin helps but these things get into EVERYTHING, so if you have had them for a while I would say flea bomb your house.
I have started using head lice formula as a body wash and spray absolutley everything with surface spray. I soak our clothes etc in boiling water and I steam them with a clothes steamer if it is raining. This has taken over my life and I am sick of the pathetic outdated labels and ideas that doctors have. My husband seems to think I am wrong and that the cream doesn’t work and we will just have to live with it NO WAY.
I am about to kick him out. I am keeping them at bay, but they are never gone completely, I have spent hundreds of dollars on creams and things. Good luck.
P.S. We think he got them from a pig hunting trip – off a pig.

  • Scabies occurs worldwide and affects people of all races and social classes. There are certain things you can do at home to keep from reinfesting yourself or your family.
