How To Get Rid of Whiteheads and Blackheads

Whiteheads and blackheads can feel like an embarrassing problem when a person is trying to put their best face forward. The good news is that there are many solutions for people who are wondering how to get rid of whiteheads and blackheads. These solutions are easy but diligence is required to get rid of them for good.

One of the main problems that causes whiteheads and blackheads is that the skin is not properly exfoliated. Dead skin cells that sit on top of the skin block and clog the pores. When bacteria gets trapped inside these blocked pores it begins to mix with the oil in the skin and develops into a whitehead or a blackhead. A person wondering how to get rid of whiteheads and blackheads simply has to exfoliate regularly to keep the pores open and clear. Exfoliating the skin is easy by using a cleansing product, toner and moisturizer containing salicylic acid. Salicylic acid exfoliates the skin chemically and turns over that old skin so the pores open up and the bacteria can be washed away.

The second step to how to get rid of whiteheads and blackheads is to cleanse the skin thoroughly after it has been exfoliated. The exfoliation opens up the pores and then once the pores have been opened one must cleanse the dirt and bacteria out of the pores. Cleansing can be made even more effective by using warm water and a cleanser that contains acne fighting medication. Acne fighting cleansers contain ingredients that help to fight off the most possible bacteria and to keep it at bay. Cleansing should be done in the morning and evening by anyone trying to get rid of blackheads and whiteheads.

After cleansing an astringent can be applied to the face. Astringents will help to kill additional bacteria and will tighten the pores on the face. When the pores are tightened it makes it harder for additional bacteria to enter the pores resulting in less whiteheads and blackheads.

Blackhead strips are also a great way to remove blackheads and whiteheads from the nose and chin area on the face. These strips can be purchased at the drugstore and are applied over the bridge of the nose or on the chin for about 5-10 minutes. When the strips are peeled off a lot the blackhead or whitehead from inside the pores sticks to the strip and lifts entirely out of the pores.
