How to Get Rid of Upper Lip Hair
Not all women are open about it, but it is something they are concerned with everyday ---- upper lip hair. Why do women have to have these irritating facial hair feature? While there are many treatments available, some have proven to be painful and expensive.
Here are some of the treatments and processes available. Check each of them out and determine one that suits you best.
Identifying the Causes
Before discussing the treatments available on the market, it is better to first understand why hair grows on the upper lip. Reasons vary from one woman to another.
- One reason for having upper lip hair is genetics. If your mom sports a mustache, then there is a possibility that you will have one too.
- You cana lso be suffering from a serious problem called PCOS, or Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. PCOS affects up to 10% of girls who are in their reproductive phase. Among the many symptoms of PCOS is excessive growth of hair. While not all PCOS patients experience this, excessive hair growth is seen on up to 75% of those who have this disorder. Sometimes excessive hair grows on the chin, but it commonly grows on the upper lip.
- Facial hair is normal. It only becomes a problem if it grows too long or too thick. That being said, some women have darker and thicker facial hair than others.
- Facial hair may develop during the menopausal stage. Women will experience hormonal changes as they reach menopause.
