I am at my wits end about my niece and nephew (my brothers son and daughter) who, are taking my mother (their grandmother) for a ride, financially. First it was the boy, after being evicted from a rent subsidized apartment, came to my mother begging for a place to stay until he could find another place. Things started missing almost from the start and when I would confront him about them he denied them on his children's lives. I finally caught him when my mother's cancelled checks came from the bank and there he was, caught like the rat he is! He had forged hundreds of dollars from her checking account along with stealing a brand new lap-top computer on Christmas day after he had opened his gifts and eaten dinner.
Then after he was told to leave, about a week later, the girl, his sister, was dropped of in the driveway by her husband and told my mother that she only needed a place to stay for about a week while they worked a few things out in their marriage--thaqt was almost two years ago and they have since divorced and the husband has since remarried, taking the family home and leaving the girl with nothing.
Nothing, that is except a raging drug habit!
I have pleaded with my mother to throw her out but, she steadfastly refuses saying that God wouldn't forgive her if she didn't forgive the girl. What's up with that? It would seem to me that her hands are tied by the Bible and the Golden Rule.
The girl has even stolen from her, taking checks written for 5 and 6 dollars and changing them by adding a zero and a "ty" and making them for fifty and sixty dollars! Between them, they have decimated my mother's finances.
My other brother and my sister have stopped giving my mother money because it is only going to the girl and the boy, still. Just this past week she paid nearly 600.00 to pay his power bill because he used his money to buy drugs for his sweetie and Her mother.
I know what everyone is going to say...if the mother isn't willing to do anything about this situation, what can anyone else do? My mother is 77 years old and is being sucked dry by these jackels, but short of taking the law into my own hands, what can I do?

The last tip on here, send them packing. Unfortunately in the state of Florida if you reside with someone more than 48 hours and you have your personal items in their home you are considered a resident of that property and the police will simply tell you to file for an eviction. I know people will help a friend out but think twice because even police may not be able to help you erradicate unwanted stayovers!!
