How to Get Rid of Skid Marks
Gone are the days when a skid mark was defined as a mark created by a tire. Since language evolves, you will find out more interesting meanings of a skid mark. Before you learn about other types of skid marks, it will help to learn about what the term “skid mark” originally means.
Skid Marks on the Road
Technically, a skid mark is seen on the surface of the road after a vehicle has suddenly stopped. The tires of a vehicle creates a mark as the wheels slide on the road. Skid marks are rubber deposits on the street. Friction helps create skid marks on roads. Generally, a skid mark is a result of any solid moving against another solid. A skid mark is also a visible mark used by forensic engineers in analyzing pieces of trace evidence.
Skid marks caused by automobiles are classified into two. The first one is referred to as an acceleration mark since the skid mark is created as the vehicle accelerates speed. The other one is called the braking mark, which results from having the brakes lock up, paving way for the tires to slide. As the tires slide (especially sideways), marks are created.
Skid marks on roads are not the marks you should get rid of because in car accidents, the skid marks show many clues that can be helpful if a crime took place. You will be given clues as to what happened, or as to how the car tossed and turned. Such marks are important evidence for vehicular accident reconstruction as their size and shape can reveal much about vehicle speed and forces of acceleration or deceleration.
Now, the good news is, you don't have to deal with skid marks on the road. Let these marks be there because they provide information that you cannot reveal. The skid marks you need to get rid of are the marks found on your linoleum flooring or worse, on your underwear.
Skid Marks On Linoleum
Skid marks on your linoleum flooring are not caused by tires, although that is possible if you let car wheels inside your home. You don't need to let tires inside your home to get skid marks because your shoes can give you the same burden that car wheels do.
You may have been too excited about wearing your new, black shoes to work. Since you were in a hurry this morning, you didn't notice your shoes destroying your linoleum floor. You have no choice but to get rid of the skid marks over the weekend, and that weekend is now.
Regular Erasers: Removing skid marks on linoleum flooring is easy. You only need an eraser to lift the marks. If a pink eraser won't lift the rubber on your floor, you can use liquid cleaners. Sometimes, though, a good quality eraser is even better than liquid cleaners, so make sure that you choose an eraser that you can rely on when you need to lift rubber leftovers on your floor.
Liquid Cleaners: If an eraser won't help, try any liquid cleaner you have on hand. Spray or squirt and then rub off with a rag, scrubbing a bit if necessary.
White-Soled Shoes: If erasers and liquid cleaners won't help, try “rescuffing” the affected area with your white-soled sneakers. This way, you are not actually removing the skid marks, but replacing them with white ones. You are covering the black marks with white, so your black skid marks won't be visible anymore. Rescuffing the affected spot always works, so don't hesitate to try this method.
Baking Soda: Baking soda is always a great scouring powder. Aside from that, it also deodorizes, cleans and freshens your linoleum floor. Just don't used baking soda on scuff marks found on aluminum because it will only make the aluminum turn black.
Skid Marks In Your Underwear
Skid marks in your underwear are elongated stains caused by either expelling farts for an extended period of time or rubbing your underwear on your anus, which you did not sufficiently wash or wipe after excrementing. In short, the skid mark on your underwear is a fecal stain.
First, white briefs are a big no-no if you are prone to having skid marks on your underwear. Why not wear colored ones, especially dark blue, black or brown? You surely wouldn't notice the skid marks when you wear darker-colored undergarments.
You should also make it a point to wash your behind with water and soap. Sufficient washing and wiping are the ultimate secrets to getting rid of skid marks on your underwear. Just observe your personal hygiene and you won't encounter skid marks on your underwear anymore.
Washing your underwear is also a solution. If detergent and water are not enough, you may need to bleach your underwear. If the stain cannot be removed after bleaching, maybe you need to throw the undergarment away, buy a new (darker-colored) one, and know that you should wipe your behind well before wearing your underwear.
Skid Marks On Just About Anything
To get rid of skid marks on toilets, stainless steel sinks, bath tubs and tarnished silverware, mix warm water and baking soda. Use it to wipe the skid marks off. Cover the mixture if you are not using it anymore and keep it that way until you need to deal with skid marks again.
You can also use a liquid cleaner by combining one pint of warm water and two tablespoons of baking soda in a spray bottle. The solution can be used when wiping vinyl floors, washing windows or cleaning compact disks.
Sponging will also help a lot. Just sprinkle a small amount of baking soda onto a sponge. Wipe the marks from fridges, stove tops, microwaves, tile surfaces, laminated countertops, painted walls and just about anything with skid marks.
Skid marks are not always an enemy. Prepare all the things you need to get rid of skid marks, but don't forget that some marks are helpful, like those on the roads after an accident or a crime.

I find that when I make skid marks on the road, I also make them in my pants. Double whammy!!
If you find that you are making skid marks with your car on a regular basis with just lighter acceleration, it could be because your tires are overinflated. It could also mean your accelerator pedal needs an adjustment so that it isn’t as abrupt.
