When searching for how to remove ants in the home you will find that there are many options that you can use to achieve this purpose. Many of these methods require materials that you may already have in your house. Many others can easily be obtained at local stores or even on the Internet.

Using Tape

Strips of tape can be place on the floor or any area where you see ants appearing. You need to place the tape with the adhesive side facing up. This is a great option to know how to get rid of ants in the home as ants will stick to the tape. Simply take the tape out to the garbage.

Boric Acid

Mix a borac acid power with water to make a homemade pesticide. Apply this pesticide with a baster to areas that are hard to reach. You can also add the solution to a spray bottle that you can use to adjust the type of stream.

Chalk Powder

Chalk contains calcium carbonate that can be used to repel ants. Grind pieces of chalk into a powder to apply at entry points for your home. This can include around basement windows of along the bottom of an exterior wall. However, you will need to reapply if the weather turns to rain.


Four that is used for baking that is stored in a pantry can also be used to repel ants. Sprinkle flour at the back of kitchen cabinets to keep ants at bay. You can also use flour at any areas of your house where an ants have been seen.

Lemon Juice

Squeeze fresh lemons into a spay bottle and dilute is slightly with water. Spray lemon juice along a door threshold or along a windowsill. You can also spray in areas that are hard to reach to keep ants out of your home. You can also place lemon peels in areas where you suspect ants may appear.


Mix orange peels with one cup of water in a blender to make a puree. Pour the puree over any ant hills that you see in sidewalks or walkways leading to your house. This will make any ants vacate the area.


Cayenne pepper is another item in your kitchen that can be used to repel ants. Use this sparingly if your supply is low. Ants look are attracted to sugar and placing the pepper along the backside of countertops to keep ant away.

Talcum Powder

This is a good type of organic repellant to use if want to know how to get rid of ants in the home. Apply talcum powder along the foundation of your home to repel ants and keep them away.
