The face is one of the first places to show the signs of an unhealthy lifestyle. People who are not getting enough sleep or do not have a healthy diet may be wondering how to get rid of eye bags and dark circles. One of the first steps to how to get rid of eye bags and dark circles is getting the right amount of sleep every night and getting proper nutrition.

The first step of how to get rid of eye bags and dark circles is with improved nutrition. Dark circles can be caused by a lack of certain vitamins in the diet. One specific vitamin that will cause dark circles if it is lacking in the diet is vitamin K. Increasing the intake of vitamin K can show drastic improvements in dark circles in just a few days. Try eating salads including dark leafy green vegetables like spinach and kale several times a week to see an improvement in the overall appearance of the skin and fading dark circles. Vitamin K is also contained in certain eye creams. Using an eye cream containing vitamin K will also help to reduce the darkness under the eyes. Too much salt in the diet can also create eye bags and puffy eyes. Reducing the salt intake in the diet should result in a smoother and less puffy under eye area.

Getting enough sleep at night is absolutely essential to reducing the eye bags and dark circles. If the body does not get enough sleep the first place it will show is in the skin and around the eye area. If a person is having trouble falling asleep at night they can try to have a relaxing bath with lavender salts and to drink chamomile tea before bed. Both of these remedies promote relaxation and can put a person into a deeper sleep more quickly without drugs or alcohol. Adding some nutritional supplements into the diet can also improve sleeping patterns. People who do not have an adequate intake of B vitamins in their diet can experience sleep difficulty. Try adding a supplement of vitamin B6 into the diet and sleep patterns will likely improve. Soft eye pillows are also good for reducing eye puffiness and eye bags. Wearing one over the eyes can also promote longer sleep because the pillow will shut out early morning light.
